Marketing techniques for dating apps really have us sold on modern-day dating. We all know that we're being tricked, but we go willingly into the dark abyss. Whoever is pitching for Tinder should really get a raise, because every time I delete the thing, I find myself right back on it the minute I'm bored. That's a big issue, actually — the boredom, or rather, the FOMO. It seems that you have to constantly entertain someone, lest they jump right on to the next best thing. This so-called 'next best thing' is an illusion — we all know the algorithm manipulates you into thinking that you are going to meet your soulmate on the next swipe. Lol, as if that were even a thing nowadays.
So dry convos, ghosting, getting stood up, meeting crazy people… it's the new norm. We gotta maneuver ourselves carefully around this current phenomenon. The endless supply of hot, emotionally unavailable people is an illusion. Okay, scratch that — the endless supply of hot people is an illusion. Emotionally unavailable folk… those you'll find plenty of. If you, like countless others, are failing miserably at this little thing called a 'dating app', join the club and scroll down for the fails. They certainly made me feel better.
