Hey y'all. We get pretty frustrated when people try to compare dogs to family members. There are so many complicated familial situations, often times people feel much closer to their doggos than their family members and that is completely normal. What's not normal is when your family tries to gaslight you into financially supporting family members that have never really acted like family. Such is the case for one reddit using doggo owner that we are featuring here today.
After being all but abandoned by her mother who then went on to remarry a man and not even invite OP to her wedding, the original poster of this reddit thread got a random phone call from mom after 4 years of not even a simple 'hello.' And what did mom want? Surprise, surprise, money. And not just money, but money to finance her new stepchild's health condition when OP was not even aware that her mother had remarried or had a new step child. Talk about ridiculous. OP rightfully refuses, but mom soon found out that OP planned to spend a pretty penny on her dog's surgery. That's when the family came in and called OP a 'monster' for choosing her dog over her step sibling. We want to state this very clearly- doggos are family members, they are man's best friend. and OP's dog 'Rory' means absolutely everything to her. Of course she would choose to finance her dog's surgery instead of forking over her life savings to support her neglectful mother's new step child. Doggos over crappy family members any day.
