In 2021, this adorable walrus named Wally decided he wanted to a sunny getaway - to escape the icy temperatures of his daily life for sunny days and warm waters. He first appeared in Ireland and continued to travel south all the way to Spain in search of adventures and probably other walruses! He's the first of his kind to be seen so far south in the wild. Nobody knows the real reason for his migration, but it looks like he had fun doing it!
Unfortunately, his vacation put him in danger because Walruses are very social creatures, and they like to hitch rides on things like icebergs (or in this case, boats). He sank a few boats and a wildlife conservation started to get afraid that someone would hurt him. Luckily, they tracked the last leg of his vacation to Iceland, where afterwards it is assumed he went back north to be with other walruses and hopefully do walrus things all day. The video does not have such a happy ending for the second walrus who decided to take a vacation, Freya. We'll let you watch the whole video to see what happens for yourselves.
What would you do if you were just casually sailing on your boat and you saw a walrus try to climb on board? Even if he was friendly, for sure it would still be scary. But he just wants to say hi and make new friends! Who knew walruses were so needy???
He looks cute, in our opinion. Like a giant, old man-baby, covered in blubber. He's probably very squishy, and honestly that's a huge factor in whether we like someone or not. Would you make friends with Wally?
