Memes are one of the few things out there that we can enjoy without restraint. They summarize our greatest fears and darkest desires in the most succinct and stupid way possible, and entertain us in the process. The only thing stopping us from gorging on their idiocy 24/7 is an unreliable internet connection, and most of us will do everything on our power to avoid that nightmare scenario. We can't get enough, because memes take a peek into our soul and show us how ridiculous we and the things we find funny really are. We don't have to be serious all the time — or indeed most of the time, because life is short. It really doesn't have to be that serious, and memes are so addictive because they are committed to showing us that. Other people might try and get in the way, but that's not going to stop us from seeing how it really is. Go forth and meme.
