I have spent more time in the state of Texas than I have in any other state in America. I spent most of my childhood deep in the heart of Texas and have subconsciously bought into a lot of propaganda about the Lone Star State. Texans are obsessed with their state, and I don't have a problem with that. If you eat Texas-shaped burgers or buy Texas plates or sleep on Texas-shaped pillows, I think that is really fierce. I am bemused that I had to say the Texas pledge every morning after the normal Pledge of Allegiance and that I spent a whole year of my education learning solely about Texas history. Texas has a weird and unique culture, and I'm proud to be part of it.
The Texan in me is also pretty defensive when people criticize the state. All I ask is that divas from Nebraska or other lame states like that abstain from spewing some nonsense about Texas, especially when they've never even been. However, I would be remiss to deny that Texas has a lot of flaws. The people of Reddit came together to discuss why so many Americans hate Texas, and they've got some valid points. Emphasis on some.
