'This is pretty much theft, so I don't plan on just sitting back with my arms crossed': Tenant gets revenge on shady landlord by planning to boobytrap his apartment before moving

This tenant, u/needhlp, is a user on Reddit who reached out to the r/IllegalLifeProTips community in order to get some good ideas on how to get back at his landlord for highjacking everyone's security deposit without due cause. He reached out to the r/ community so that he could cause the most damage possible to the bathroom in his rented apartment prior to moving, before changing his number and email, disappearing forever, and ensuring his shady landlord would have to use his deposit money on repairs instead of profiting.

Redditors stepped in and shared some crazy ideas that would cause pretty significant damage. Some of the ideas would even work retroactively and could avoid being traced back to Needhlp. It turns out, the people on Reddit have some experience in sabotage. However, not in the way you would imagine. Most people would think that the best way to cause an incredible amount of damage to a bathroom would be to hurt the plumbing in some way, but no, Reddit is more creative than that, and much more stinky.

One of the most popular comments on the thread (and the most reinforced by the community) was the suggestion to create a chicken stink bomb. Apparently, if you put raw chicken and milk in a sealed mason jar, with heat and a few weeks to ferment, the entire thing will explode, splashing rotting meat juices on every surface it touches. Many of them even suggested putting the trap in the air vents so that the entire house would be essentially rotted and ruined from the inside out. Take that scammy landlord!

Basically everyone on Reddit hates sketchy landlords, especially when they come after a fellow renter's money. Security deposits are meant to be returned to a renter if there has been no damage done during their lease, so because this property owner refused to return it, our comrade Needhlp decided to make some waves. Some other sabotage suggestions included some classics like cement in the toilet, shrimp in the curtain rods, bug traps, and eggs in the vents.

Essentially, most people just wanted the stink-factor to take over this landlord's life and haunt him for eternity. The long term trauma that could come out of any one of these ideas would be tremendous, and well-deserved. We hope that u/needhlp gets the revenge he's looking for.
