Working from home is quickly becoming a very common practice. Since the pandemic in 2020 forced everyone to stay at home, companies finally started to see how work still got done. It's now considered an antiquated way of thinking if you force your employees to come to an office every single day to do work they could perfectly do from home. Many millennials and Gen Z are even refusing to do jobs that aren't WFH.
Recenly, a man took to Reddit to share his satisfying petty revenge/malicious compliance story of how he got longer weekend after being denied WFH days. This man is an engineer and the offices are hours from the city where he lives. He has been spending his own money on a place to stay near the office during the week so he didn't have to commute, and then going back home to be with his family. He asked for an extra day to work from home so he could be closer to his family and his upper management denied him. They said they didn't want to give him an extended weekend, even though he was clearly saying he would be working.
So, he decided to go the malicious compliance route. He had several vacation days saved up from previous years and was fully intending on quitting at the end of this year. So he took enough days off every single week to get him a 5-day weekend for the rest of the year. Petty revenge and malicious compliance at its most satisfying.
