I have the type of anxiety that makes me worried that I peaked in high school, even though I know I had a horrible time. My high school years had some positive moments, but my life got exponentially better once I graduated and moved far away from anyone I knew. There are some moments from high school I still think about, like my Senior prom, which was almost Carrie-esque in how traumatic it was, but that's a story for another day. Five years out from high school, I'm sitting pretty, knowing I will never have to be inside that school again.
Unfortunately, not everybody is so quick to leave high school behind. Some people really latch on to the version of themselves they were when they were 16 because they haven't done much since. We all know the types: they still live in their hometown, they reminisce on their school days constantly, and their personality has not changed in the slightest since you last saw them. People who peaked in high school are a strange breed, and you should watch out for them at all costs.
