'My manager didn’t think it was an acceptable excuse': Employee not allowed to miss work after dog passed away

Are some horrible bosses genetically engineered to be heartless? Asking for a friend here.

 

That friend would be u/Crafty_Editor_4155, who shared his story via this thread on Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit. He discovered that his dog tragically passed away and wasn't allowed to call in sick at work, thanks to his horrible boss. So what did this Redditor do? He complied and stayed at work but didn't stop himself from letting all his emotions out while at his desk. When other folks would ask him what was wrong, he would tell them the truth and would let it be known that he wasn't allowed to take the day off. Eventually, his boss's boss stepped in to save the day.
