Font - Entitled boomer curses me out at work for not saying "thank you" S Still shaking from this interaction and it's still ongoing. I'm not sure this belongs here but here's the story: I (26f) work at a non-profit and our offices are inside a shelter building. My office happens to be in the very front mail room and I have a window that slides open right next to my door (think drive-thru window). Well today I was working in my office when a man comes up to my window aggressively waving an envel

Font - Me: "Hi, is there anything I can help you with?" Boomer: stares at me and starts waving the envelope Me: "I'm sorry, I don't understand what you're trying to say" Boomer: "well if you opened your mail at our building and I'm returning it" door Me: "okay sir don't come back here." Boomer: "don't worry We got your Me: too shocked to say anything and still processing why I'm being called names Boomer: hands me the envelope "you're welcome I won't come back here"

Font - Boomer: proceeds to exit my building and stand in front shouting repeatedly and saying "I hope you get broken into" you At this point I started repeating "go away" until my shelter director came out, at which point he walked two doors down the street and went inside. My shelter director later went to report him and talk to his boss but they told her that he was angry and upset because I didn't say "thank you" when he handed me our mail.

Font - TLDR: A boomer aggressively tried to enter my office to return mail, called me names when I didn't open the door, and harassed me because I didn't thank him afterwards. Edit: I'm not going to change my post because part of taking accountability is making sure I don't brush it under the rug/pretend I didn't do something but yes, I understand that using the word "boomer" was unnecessary. I want to make it clear that I never claimed this was because he was a boomer or that all boomers act th

Font - gatamosa 14 hr. ago The worst irony is him using the excuse of you having lack of manners.... When he... just annihilated the lack of manners.

Font - OnyxRain0831 OP 14 hr. ago That's the part that really got me. It wasn't until about an hour or two later when the shelter director went to speak with his boss that I heard about his excuse of "well she didn't thank me" and I couldn't help but laugh at it because how on earth can you justify your behavior with such a flimsy excuse?

Font - KobaruLCO 16 hr. ago How can you even thank him before he even explains what he is doing trying to force himself into your office and then shouting profanities at you. Escalate this as far as you can, get him sacked if you can. Scum like this don't deserve gainful employment.

Human body - Independent_Bank_416 17 hr. ago Like he's entitled to a thank you. He should've been arrested instead.

Font - blbd 15 hr. ago If you have camera footage and it's legal where you guys are at, a posting of the video of their behavior with the other firm's name on it might do wonders for their bad attitude and refusal to take their complaint. What they said is absolutely not OK.

Font - OnyxRain0831 OP 14 hr. ago I so wish we do but we only have them in restricted areas. Because people reside where I work we are very limited on where we are allowed cameras. I can see if I can get ahold of any footage from outside the building but unfortunately the beginning of the conversation was well away from cameras

Font - Cant BelieveThisIsTru 15 hr. ago Oh NO HE DIDN'T!!! You DO NOT hurl abusive derogatory names at people followed by an expectation of "niceties" such as please and thank you. Sounds like a Misogynistic entitled age discriminator. There are these people who feel like they deserve to be addressed with "yes ma'am" "no ma'am" "yes sir"” “no sir" "please" "thank you" just because they are OLD! But they do not see the need to use those terms themselves. He should not be allowed in your building

Font - wind-river7 15 hr. ago How ridiculous. You are supposed to thank someone that is cursing at you. Hard to believe that anyone would offer that as an excuse.

Rectangle - OnyxRain0831 OP 14 hr. ago It's complete bull he just didn't have any valid reason to be upset so he had to come up with something lol

Rectangle - DaveWpgC 15 hr. ago It should have gone like this... Me: "I'm sorry, I don't understand what you're trying to say" Boomer: "well if you opened your f door We got your mail at our building and I'm returning it" old hole. Now get Me: "Ok thanks a lot you f outta my sight." the Then he'd have his thank you & you could sit back & enjoy a coffee knowing you'd properly engaged with society.
