Nature Photographer Shares Her Shots of the Derpiest, Least Photogenic Wild Animals of 2022

One nature photographer, Julia Cook, spends days, weeks, and months, trekking the northern wilderness in order to capture photos of some incredible wildlife. She battles cold fronts, restless days, and the elements in order to get that perfect shot. Unfortunately for her, sometimes her time is spent sifting through silly animal photos before she can find the beautiful ones. Julia recently made a compilation of the derpiest animal shots of 2022 and the results are hilarious.

Dopey Bear

Caught mid-battle with another young male, this silly looking boy has a bit of a snaggle-tooth and a quirky look in his eye earning him a position in the least photogenic category for Julia. After tracking bears all season, Julia has certainly seen some silly looking ones.

Dummy Dumb Deer

We're not sure what this one is doing, but the side-eye look is pretty unmatched. This is how most humans look when they're laying flat in the bed, avoiding moving, while trying to catch a glimpse of their phone on the bedside table. It's a test to see how far the eye can stretch before the head needs to turn.

Bimbo Bison

Either this big boy has no teeth or his lip has risen up so far that his teeth are hidden behind a wall of gums. Both make this puffy headed cow our 3rd contender in 2022 as the least photogenic animal.

This is the kind of stare that will make you let someone cut you in line at the buffet— they need access to that all-you-can-eat table before you do.

Mr. Moosh

It's not this guys fault he looks silly. He's just caught in an action shot of him shaking rain water off his fur, but unfortunately the momentum of the spin has taken his face in the opposite direction of his eyes. Sorry big guy.

Blebbington the Elk

This elk is pretty adorable. In my opinion, he deserves to be on the “MOST photogenic animal" list.

Too-Many-Beers Bear

Another derpy looking bear made the list as well. This poor guy looks like he's seen better days, days where his underbite wasn't protruding past his upper lip. To be fair, a lot of these animals were caught in motion doing something rather silly. Does that make them derps? Does that make them un-photogenic? A little. We still love them all though, we just have to have some imagination to picture them in their majestic form.
