Many of us out there hate waiting. I should know, I'm one of the most impatient people around. Still, it would be wrong to say that the feeling of expectation doesn't play an important role in our lives. The new season of our favorite show, or a dream vacation just wouldn't hit the same if we immediately got presented them the second we demanded it.

Also, the thing about impatience is that the second we stop overthinking, a big surprise can slap us in the face. Such is the way of scrolling through endless memes. We let our eyes glaze over as we pass by image after mediocre image, but then one pops up that makes the whole pointless exercise seem worthwhile. It's why we keep coming back to them, again and again. The slog is worth the reward, and you never know. You might actually enjoy that part, too.
