A loved one being diagnosed with a chronic condition can be difficult and strain any relationship, and a significant other falling ill is often a test of the couple's strength. But what happens when the diagnosis isn't a terrible one and the diagnosed party still tries to emotionally manipulate and control their SO by using it?

The Reddit post brought this issue to light when a woman asked if she should have canceled plans to go to a special event with her step-sister due to her boyfriend's diagnosis. What diagnosis, you ask? Well, like every Reddit user on the thread, our minds went straight to the worst-case scenario. Imagine the anti-climatic feeling when we learned BF was diagnosed with… anemia.
The poor man would have to start taking supplements and everything, bless his heart. OP was sympathetic, up to the point that he got upset she wasn't canceling her plans with her step-sister to sit around on the phone and commiserate with him over his condition, going so far as to call her an AH for not ditching her step-sister.
