In any relationship, it's essential to respect and support your partner's personal and professional growth. Unfortunately, not all partners understand the significance of such support, and some may even resort to making demeaning jokes or belittling their partner's accomplishments. In some cases, they may continue doing so even after being corrected, as if they have the right to put down their partner in public.
Such a situation can be frustrating and demoralizing for the person at the receiving end of these jokes. This is especially true when they have recently embarked on a new and better career and worked hard to achieve their goals.
Such is the case with today's AITA.
A former nurse turned marine biologist (I mean, WOW!) has been the butt of her husband's jokes in social gatherings since she started working in a local aquarium with sea turtles. Whenever someone would ask her what she did for a living, which happened quite frequently in salon small talk, he'd jump in before she had a chance to answer, and say she was a tour guide at the aquarium.
OP corrected him, only to later be berated that she was making him look like a fool, she couldn't expect him to bother to remember what she actually did, and his version was funnier anyway.
Personally, we think someone as kickass as OP deserves better than a man with such a fragile ego that can't be proud of her accomplishments, and Redditors readily agree, offering some… creative solutions, Reddit style.
