The number one rule in any work environment: be kind to the receptionist! Because the truth of the matter is they can make your life more difficult than you could ever imagine. This Karen tried to waltz her way into an office building that had strict security rules. If she didn't have a corporate badge, she needed someone to come down and get her. This reception was simply relaying those facts and was just doing their job.

They shared their story via this thread on Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit. When Karen finally was able to go up the elevator, she insisted that the receptionist bring this up to management before she did. Well, that's exactly what the Redditor did, and management correctly concluded that the receptionist was in the right. And it only gets better. As it turns out, Karen was applying for a job; she didn't even work in the building yet. Let's just say that this encounter ensured that there wasn't a future for her in this office.
