A Fun Bunch of Memes for Nerds of Many Breeds

It's kind of weird that "nerd" was such a major insult when we were growing up. The insinuation was devastating. But the word "nerd," if we want to get granular, can actually be pretty damn positive. According to the Oxford dictionary, the term is defined as follows:

"1. a person who is extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable about a particular subject, especially one of specialist or niche interest.
"the executive is an unabashed film nerd"
2. DEROGATORY
an unfashionable person who lacks social skills or is boringly studious.
"I was not the sporty type, I was a bookish nerd"

Sure, we're familiar with the derogatory use - but even that stems from the more positive definition above it. Nerds know a sh*t ton, often about subjects or interests that are pretty damn specific. I consider myself a food nerd, and probably a Lord of the Rings nerd, but nerddom goes far beyond these topics. There are sci-fi nerds, paleontology nerds, and Dungeons and Dragons nerds. Don't even get us started on philosophy nerds. Nerds come in every color of the rainbow, and because memes tend to be universal, nerds of all kinds are making memes about their unique interest. While a few of these memes may seem normie, they're mostly targeted at specific hobbies and interests, and we're willing to bet that most people will relate to at least a couple of 'em.
