Doing your own job is tiring enough without having to do your coworker's job too. Unfortunately, the reality is you'll often find yourselves having to make up for your coworker's chain-dragging—hey, at least those group projects in school prepared us for something… right?
Another unfortunate reality comes in the realization that most managers will be slow to do anything about this. Even if they say they're looking into it, you can bet on a sloth to show more urgency and keep a greater pace. No, you'll need to take matters into your own hands, just like the writer in this story had to when she grew tired of covering assignments for her company's unbelievably blockish photographer. It might sound far-fetched for someone to be this ineffective and still have a job, but it happens daily. Maybe it's nepotism, or maybe she's sleeping with one of the bosses, but Hanlon's and Occam's Razors would lead us to believe that the bosses are just happy to be getting their paychecks and they couldn't care less how things get done—just as long as the work is getting done.
