Talk about a toxic work environment! In this case, we mean that literally, as this story is set at a sewage treatment plant. This thread, which was posted to Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit, was posted by u/czokoman, a mechanic who was pressured along with his coworkers to perform extra duties by the plant manager (not their direct supervisor) and to prioritize those duties over their central tasks.
Naturally, this caused problems and when the CEO caught wind of it all, he threatened to take away their bonuses. As part of damage control, the team decided to find the best possible workflow to ensure that the central tasks are always completed. What this meant was ignoring the plant manager's constant requests for extra work in favor of their core responsibilities. Everyone should take note here. It isn't worth performing extra tasks over the thing you're getting paid to do. In fact, it isn't worth performing extra tasks unless you're getting paid extra too.
