The long, long, long awaited Elder Scrolls VI was first announced back in 2018 with an annoyingly simple teaser trailer that featured the title of the game over an aerial view of what most assume to be Hammerfell, and yet we still don't really know crap about the game. But that hasn't stopped the fans from speculating ad nauseam. For instance, it has been rumored that the game will take place during the Second Era, which is a time period that has not been explored in depth in Bethesda's previous titles. This could open up new storytelling opportunities and allow players to experience a different side of Tamriel. The speculation that Elder Scrolls VI will take place in Hammerfell is largely based on hints dropped by Bethesda in the past. In 2018, Todd Howard, the executive producer at Bethesda Game Studios, confirmed that the game will take place in a location that has not been featured in any previous Elder Scrolls games.
