‘I’m Not Like the Other Girls’: Women Share the Moment They Realized Being a 'Pick Me' Girl Sucks

Have you ever met an otherwise lovely lady, who just wasn't very self-aware about the fact she would attempt to gain men's attention by gently putting down other women, and/or pretending that she was 'not like other girls' when it came to stereotypical girly things such as makeup, fashion, and other things? She doesn't mean to be an AH, but she says things like, 'oh my gosh, you wear so much makeup. It looks so great on you, but personally, I could never…'.

We could all relate to Gone Girl's monologue at one point in our life. Why? Honestly? We've been that girl. There was a time when we felt deeply insecure and wanted validation from men, managing unfortunately to put down other women in the process. But we quickly (or not so quickly) learned that being a cool girlfriend, AKA a 'pick me' girl didn't serve us in the slightest. Moreover, we got dumped anyway. For the same reasons we first caught the dude's attention.
