Adopting a cat is something that has undoubtedly and unquestionably made us better people. And we mean that. Having a cat made us calmer, made us more patient, taught us to appreciate the little things- the little ways that they show affection. Making the decision to adopt our kitties was seriously one of the bets things that we have ever done, and we will forever recommend adoption to others. Honestly, we have never thought about these benefits being applied anywhere else, but after seeing this, we're glad someone else did.
Apparently, there is an amazing program that allows well-behaved prisoners to adopt cats. The first second we saw it, not gonna lie, we were slightly concerned for the cats, as is our instincts in most situations, but the more we learned about the program, the more we learned about the amount of benefits everyone gets there, the more we were reminded that… yeah, adopting a cat makes everyone better. That's just the magical effect that cats have.
We think it's seeing the joy on these prisoners' faces that made us the most excited about this program. Happiness, joy, confidence, responsibility - all the things that this program brings about - are all so valuable to prisoners' rehabilitation. Again, we're really glad that someone thought about this idea.
And let's be real. Cats… cats will defend themselves if the need arises. Of course, cats shouldn't be given to anyone dangerous in the first place. but regardless, cats won't let anyone ride all over then. They demand respect and nothing less. So, no wonder they make us better people. It's not surprising at all when you think about it.
