You can't enforce rules that aren't there! This toxic boss decided that the best way to get promoted at work was to be a humorless, difficult "rule enforcer" despite the fact that he clearly wasn't aware of what the real rules actually were in their workplace. This thread was posted to Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit by u/Sarasil, who as it turns out is one of those rare employees that actually does take a good look at the employee handbook.
So what happened when it was time for shorts weather? The toxic boss told the Redditor that he needed to go home and change into pants because it was against the rules (it was not). When the Redditor returned to work and told the other manager what had happened (armed with the employee handbook, of course), he was able to get proper revenge. On top of it all, he got to wear his beloved shorts.
