Many say it is unwise to mix your everyday friends with your work friends. Why is that? Recently, a woman on Reddit shared a perfect example as to why you should.
She had recently attended a gala as a +1 for her friend and had a lovely time, so she thought she should return the favor when her work threw a gala. She brought her friend as her guest, and her friend absolutely humiliated her in front of her boss. The reddit poster says that her friend grew up rich and that she didn't really have to work hard for anything. Whereas, she has worked very hard in her career and the way her friend acted as her guest was simply appalling. Apparently, her friend was speaking very loudly about very inappropriate things. Her boss seemed to notice, but didn't intervene, though he did seem annoyed. It was when her friend started trying to "impress" everyone in an inappropriate way that the boss shut her down and put her in her place.
The employee who brought her and Reddit poster is so embarrassed and does not know how to react, so she reached out for advice online. Should she say something about it to her boss? Maybe apologize for her friend? Or should she just let it go? And should she cut off this "friend" who acted so inappropriately at an event she knew was important to her? Redditors respond and we've picked out the best advice given below along with the full story.
