It's possible to do this with all kinds of things, of course, from books to sports, but one of the most recognized and popular ways in which to let that geek flag fly is through good old entertainment franchises. Not just any of these will do, naturally, as it's the kind that deals in science fiction which really gets us going.
Yep, there's something about these imaginary worlds and the very real predicaments they deal with that we keep coming back to time and again. It makes them a great inspiration for memes, as proven by the likes of this list. Did George Lucas and his peers anticipate that this was going to happen? Probably not, but it's a welcome offshoot of the sci-fi community. There's just too much material out there for the internet to allow it to go to waste.
