The 'Cuddle Puddle' is one of the most ancient and adorable of feline traditions, passed down through the ages from fur baby to fur baby. In this time-honored tradition, cute cats and kittens come together and cuddle, imitating their ancestors for two reasons: remembering the cold days of yore, when their ancestors had to cuddle for warmth, and because it's heckin comfy.
While cuddle puddles may seem as simple as two or more feline friends getting together for a snuggle, that is not always the case. With such a beautiful and rich tradition comes many rules, mostly to do with cat hierarchy and which cat is which spoon. Sometimes these rules can help solve problems, but as they are quite old they sometimes lack modern-day interpretations, causing multiple houses of believers to form.

The Holy Books of Meow say that the first cuddle puddle started shortly after Cat God created the world, and two cats to rule it as his proxies. Exhausted and cold after naming all the animals that were created, these first two cats cuddled for warmth and comfort, and the rest is adorable history.
Though most cuddle puddles are usually comprised of two cats because cats don't tend to roam in big groups, it is not unheard of for puddles of three or more cuddly kitties to form, with the largest recorded puddle having over two hundred cats in it.
