Pokemon cards are something that, at this point, are loved by kids and adults everywhere. As the original Pokemon has aged into adulthood, we've continued to share that joy with the youngsters. Of course, there are always going to be people who, thinking they're clever, seek to turn a profit off of the altruism of others, disguising their wants as needs and playing the victim card whenever possible to try and guilt trip people into giving them things beyond their better judgment. This must work to an extent; how else would the behavior be learned or persist? They probably start off using this tactic with family and friends, who have no other choice but to appease their demands—until they've had enough and the choosing beggar is forced to turn to other targets.

It turns out Pokemon cards are no different, the surprising value of some treasured cards driving some entitled people to seek a bargain under the guise that they're "for kids" or "just a piece of cardboard." 

This is exactly what brought this guy into the crosshairs of this Karen, who demanded the dude's Charizard for a fraction of its worth, leading to an exchange that would end up with the Karen on the back foot.
