The only way to watch a scary movie is when it's dark outside. There's nothing more underwhelming than watching a horror movie and going outside to see the dreaded light of day. I will never forget when I saw a morning screening of Hereditary in the summer of 2018. And by morning screening, I mean that it was noon when we got out of the movie. As expected, it didn't really stick with me, and I didn't think it was that scary. Flash forward to 2020, I watched Hereditary on TV at around 10 PM one night, and it was an entirely different viewing experience. I was genuinely terrified during that iconic telephone pole scene, and like so many others, I could barely sleep after watching it. If you're planning on watching a scary movie anytime soon, please don't do it first thing in the morning. Save yourself from a mediocre experience.
