This is the heartbreaking, yet uplifting story of a Detroit dog who was first spotted in early May, carrying a stuffed toy in the rain. Someone who was passing by took a few photos and soon enough the pictures of the pup circulated among rescues in the Metro Detroit area. One of the animal rescues that received the pictures (Almost Home Animal Rescue League) knew they had to save this poor pup. According to People, Gail Montgomery (cofounder of the animal rescue) reached out to her contacts at South Lyon Murphy Lost Animal Recovery and asked for some help regarding the sweet doggo. Luckily, they were able to swoop in and save the day, picking the canine up, with her stuffed animal in tow.
As it turned out, the dog had been roaming the area for months after her owner had passed away. The dog, named Nikki, was given all the proper treatment, and is doing so much better! She has found a wonderful foster home. Legend has it, Nikki doesn't even need her stuffed animal anymore, as she is given so much love from real human beings. We love a story that ends on such a good note!
