Every gamer remembers the first time they ever played a video game. I remember my first gaming experience like it was yesterday. It was Christmas morning in 1996 and little eight-year-old me didn't even know what a game console was. There was one conspicuous package left and my dad seemed more excited to open it than either me or my sister. We all opened it together and found a Sony PlayStation along with a game called Crash Bandicoot. Little did I know that that iconic gray rectangle would change my entire childhood. We took turns playing Crash Bandicoot for the rest of the day, and I was absolutely hooked. When we finally finished the game only a couple days later, a sadness crept up within me—my first tiny taste of post-game depression. If I felt it then, you better believe I felt it tenfold after eventually playing sandbox and open-world games like Fallout, Red Dead Redemption, Metal Gear, and The Legend of Zelda. If you, too have a fear of finishing games you can't get enough of, maybe these funny and relatable gaming memes will help you delay the inevitable just a little longer.
