"[The dog] was like, 'idk, I went out to go to the bathroom and then became a parent… Is this how it happens?'"
We've said this a million times and we'll say it again: WE DON'T DESERVE DOGS.
Recently, a dog named Toby was chosen by nature to become an adoptive parent. He went outside and stuck his head in a bush and came out with a little surprise hanging onto his head. He ever so gently was pawing at the new furry friend who decided to seek haven on his noggin' when his mom noticed. She was wondering why he was pawing at his head and then spotted something hanging from it that she couldn't quite make out.
She went outside and asked Toby what he had on his head, when he turned around to show her, she found a tiny baby opossum. Baby opossums hang onto their mom's body until they are old enough to venture into the world on their own. If they fall off, it's a pretty low change that they will make it back onto the mom. However, it is also said that if they are bigger than a dollar bill, they're usually old enough to be on their own. This baby was slightly bigger than a dollar bill, so it could have been that the mom was like, “time to go live your life, jr!”

The adorable scene made Toby's mom worry a tad, since opossum moms rarely pick their babies back up once they've fallen, but luckily she knew exactly where this family of opossums have been living so she figured the baby's chance of finding his way home was high. So she gently removed the little marsupial from her dog's head and put it right at the entrance to the opossum's family's home. Within a few hours, it looked like the little baby found its way back into the den and reunited with its real mama. A happy ending for an already extra adorable encounter!
