Sometimes you have to fake it 'till you make it; that may or may not include when it comes to your salary. I'm not sure you're on the right side of ethics if you do this, but as long as you can prove your aptitude and actually perform in the role, then you probably deserved that salary anyway. And it's not like some employers wouldn't do the same and lowball you if they thought they could get away with it.
