'You're being cheap': Woman Attempts To Switch Coffee Date To Fancy Restaurant, Man Refuses Unless They Split The Bill

Dating in the modern world is quite an endeavor, as expectations are high and the result, in reality, is low. In this case, OP met a woman when buying sunglasses at a mall. After buying a pair, the woman asked him if he would like to meet her after work, to which he enthusiastically replied yes. OP suggested they go for coffee, and after she agreed, he told her to pick a place that she would feel comfortable in. Y'know, because he's a gentleman. Sometime later, the woman sent him the name of a fancy seafood restaurant, which was to him, an immediate red flag.

OP reminded her that he wanted to take her out for coffee first so that they could get to know each other, but she insisted they could get to know each other over a nice, fancy dinner. Squinting at the words written on the screen of his phone, he realized that he did not, in fact, want to take this woman to a fancy restaurant before getting to know her. So he told her jokingly that they could 'split the bill'.

That's when she showed her true colors… or rather, she showed her true colors some more. She told him that if he could afford the pair of sunglasses he got, he certainly could afford to take 'a beautiful woman out to a fancy restaurant'.
