Meta has officially launched its Threads app. Created as a clear and intentional Twitter competitor, the new platform has shaken up the internet.
It seems Threads has come at the perfect time. A lot of people, myself included, have grown a bit tired of the constant shakeups on Twitter. The Elon Musk acquisition and his variety of non-sensical platform changes have only managed to damage the social media site. So it's a pretty easy decision to at least check out the app. Perhaps, it will prove itself as a viable replacement for Twitter.
The masses have flocked to create Threads accounts and familiarize themselves with the platform. I've only explored the surface of Threads, but people haven't been afraid to broadcast their opinions. Some believe it's just a carbon copy of Twitter. Others have voiced concern over the requirement to link your Threads account to your Instagram. There's also worry about the potential censorship policies for the service. We've collected a sample of people's thoughts. Check out what Twitter is saying!
