What if LOTR was a D&D campaign? Just imagine the possibilities. The campaign would kick off in the peaceful lands of the Shire, where the player characters would start their journey as a ragtag group of misfits. Picture a clumsy, yet endearing, hobbit rogue who can't seem to do anything right, a musical dwarf bard who randomly sings epic ballads about caves, and an elf wizard who has a habit of misfiring spells and overusing fireball. As they traverse Middle Earth, they would stumble upon comical encounters at every turn. From bumbling orcs who can't seem to hit anything with their arrows to a grumpy talking tree who insists on joining the party to complain about the state of the forest. The players would find themselves in absurd situations, like trying to out-eat a group of voracious trolls in a food challenge or engaging in a dance-off with the Nazgûl to distract them from their mission. The campaign would be full of witty banter, playful jests, and ridiculous improvised plans. Maybe they would defeat the Balrog by convincing him to take up knitting, or maybe the fate of the One Ring would all come down to a game of Parcheesi with Gollum. Has anyone done this yet? I refuse to believe no one's ever played a LOTR-themed D&D campaign before.
