New Wholesome Animal Trend Has People Picking Up Their Pets and Twirling Them Around to a Taylor Swift Song

There are many trends that come and go on the Gen Z-centric app, TikTok. Many nonsensical ones that are simply there for the users to have a fun time. For example, all the dancing trends, or even the egg cracking trend. But this latest one is by far one of our favorites. 

Recently, the hip trend going viral on the app is picking up your pet and twirling them around like a Disney princess. The POV is made to look like you're the one twirling your fur baby around and it's all set to the romantically heartbreaking song by Taylor Swift “August.” IT. IS. TOO. HECKIN. CUTE. 

There is a pretty distinct difference between the dogs and the cats getting twirled around, but I think both species seem to be enjoying it. Both the cats and dogs look confused at first, though the cats definitely try to pull off a more nonchalant look like they tend to do. But then the dogs get crazy eyed and silly, some stick their tongue looking like they're having the time of their lives, while others will straight up start smiling the biggest smile. The cats tend to keep their nonchalant look, but they're also giving off a fun-time vibe. 

I once talked to a scientist who worked with experimenting on rats and she told me that when they had to put the rats in a calm state, they would pick them up and “twirl them around like a helicopter.” So, I like to imagine this is actually pretty calming for the pets. (But I'm no specialist.) Also, remember when you were a little kid and your parent would pick you up lovingly and twirl you around and you'd giggle nonstop! Ahhh, those were the days. Now it's just millennial parents picking up their fur babies to twirl.
