Font - r/AskMen u/Shinobi_X5 • 2d What's something female writers tend to get wrong about men? Have seen the "male authors on women" version of this question a number of times but never the gender-swapped version of the question so I was wondering. What, if anything, do female authors tend to/can get wrong about writing men?

Font - nosabeduncandonuts 2d Maybe it has to do with the topic of the romance novels that my partner reads, but almost all of the male protagonists are rich ⠀ Reply 41.9k Ca LavenderDay3544 2d Dick Owner m They're rich and powerful and yet have the time to maintain six-pack abs and somehow still have more time to hang around with the boring protagonist. Not to mention someone like that could do so much better. Lol.

Font - Cultural_Praline_526 2d Sex can be awkward for us. Romance novel has a really bad habit of either mischaracterizing Men in the bedroom. We are either:, Telepathic sex gods that know exactly what a women wants with no communication, Animals that can barely contain our passion or sex is a funny magic moment. Men can be nervous, scared, and feel pressure around sex, can misread signs and have poor communication. That is rarely considered.

Font - Utryn2gmble 2d I can tell it's a male character written by a woman, when they like immediately know what to say and what the woman character wants and needs at all times and is basically the antithesis of what society thanks a "man" is. They're (male) always kind and caring and will drop everything for a woman they met like two weeks ago. They're also always like never a middle ground profession, they're always either a really rich guy that's good in finance or merger & acquisitions or so

Font - NeonPatrick 2d I've noticed they have men talk a lot, especially through whatever problem they have. This isn't really my experience, men internalise thought-processes and communicate outwards ideas for solutions.

Font - Oldmanstoneface 2d I think there is a certain aversion to having masculine men portrayed in gay relationships in a few books I've read by women. The most obvious culprit being The Song of Achilles (talked about to death on other subreddits, I know). In that instance Patroclus takes the passive role in the relationship, which *must* mean he is more feminine and averse to combat, and *must* mean that he takes on the role of medic for the manly men Myrmidons. It does a disservice to Patroclu

Font - ifitshouldpleaseyou 2d I've got 2 1. The way men approach women in romance novels is often very creepy. I know it plays into the author's fantasy, but if the best looking and most emotionally available guy approached women the way romance novels protagonists do, then they'd be called creeps right away. 2. I haven't personally read anything that shows the more whimsical/childish side of men. Every man I've known on a personal level has some sort of hobby or interest that they like just bec
