Does anybody out there have an experience where HR actually stepped in and helped serve real justice? Because the internet is really convincing us that HR either does nothing or, more obviously, is only there to cover the butts of the company. Because of this department's incompetence, many of us have had to learn how to appropriately and professionally handle award situations in the workplace. And unfortunately, this tends to land on women.
For example, one female employee did something that many women take very seriously—she got bangs. If you scroll through the social media on #bangs for even a second, then you'll quickly see many women giving reasons NOT to get bangs or providing a very thorough list to go through before even considering getting bangs for yourself. It's not a decision taken lightly. So this woman was feeling a tad nervous about showcasing her new doo. You'd think it wouldn't be any sort of conversation top at work, but alas, it was.
One of her older coworkers decided to take it upon him to let her know how he felt about her new bangs. He called her ugly. He said the new look made her look "very ugly." And he didn't just mention it in passing, he made sure she heard it and made sure other coworkers heard it. Now, this 24-year-old Gen Z employee was willing to just ignore him and go about her day, but once he started making his rude opinion everyone else's business, she had to step in… with an epic roast!
