Listen, we all know what it's like trying to get a job when you're still young and in your party phase of life. There's this constant internal debate of, "Should I keep partying or go home and get some rest so I can be fresh for work in the morning?" What if the love of your life comes to the party right when you leave? What if everyone has the absolute time of their lives and will talk about it for the rest of their life, but you left at 9 pm because you had a meeting in the morning? So, sometimes, when you're young and new to the 9-to-5, you come in not feeling the best, if you know what we mean (hungover). As long as it doesn't happen all the time and you still get your work done properly, it can be overlooked by your 20-something-year-old employees. We all remember those days.
Reddit poster u/RootlesssCosmo shared a story of how she had to endure a sad case like this. Her co-worker was a notorious Karen, and the team was not happy working with her. She would constantly show up late with no excuse, and she would often be hungover. One day, she came in super late, which was already annoying, but instead of apologizing or making up some excuse, she started boasting about how "hungover" she was and what a crazy time she had the night before. Her coworkers had had enough—it was the last straw. They just decided to ignore her and keep working. This apparently was the straw that broke the camel's back for the Karen co-worker because she marched into HR to complain that the team was creating a "hostile" work environment for her.
Well, HR looked at OP with a sneak grin because he knew this was her last tardy writeup allowed, and after she gave her complaint, he simply fired her on the spot. Sorry, not sorry, Karen. Like, grow up, right?
