Cats are such jerks and such annoyances, doing everything in their power to test our limits in every capacity, and life would be so boring and blue without them.
We love cats. Some would say we're even crazy about them - purrfectly fitting the cat lady stereotype - and they would be right. ChiChi's empathy is a huge reason I couldn't give him up in the first place. From the first week I had him (I fostered him one week after the death of my beloved 24-year-old soulmate, Eabie), whenever I would sob in grief, he'd runs from whatever room he was in to jump on my lap to make biscuits and comfort me.
He kept doing this over the next 3.5 years — whenever there were terrible new mom developments (she developed Alzheimer's and cancer in that time), when my brother committed suicide, and throughout my grief since her death in July.
The more intense the sobbing, the more he's drawn. It's amazing to me that he isn't frightened by it."
