Font - greghycvjugf 9 hr. ago Just say this Hi John, Hope all is well. I understand the circumstances you're in and sympathise with you, however, this is a legal breach of the rental agreement and we don't consent. If you choose to proceed, we'll take the necessary legal action. I would recommend staying in a hotel or Airbnb until you figure out your living situation. :) If you have any questions, please let me know. Cheers, Max 186 Reply Share

Font - sleemanj. 9 hr. ago · edited 9 hr. ago First as /u/greghycvjugf says, tell them no (assuming the tenants are unhappy with the proposal). Advise the landlord that appropriate notice to terminate the rental must be given. If tenants are on a fixed term, the tenancy can not end any sooner than that date, if on a periodic then the landlord must give 63 days notice.

Font - If the landlord persists in this nonsense, the tenants should go to police and can trespass the landlord, and should contact Tenancy Services immediately. Trespass against landlords is fine, excepting that it doesn't stop them coming for inspections and emergency repair type stuff that they have a legal right to do under RTA. 72 Reply Share

Font - luminairex 8 hr. ago Tell him you'll leave voluntarily if he returns all of this year's rent and the full bond. He's going to have to hand you a notice to vacate anyway, may as well make the best of it. 26 Reply Share

Font - I_LOVE_DOWNVOTES69 7 hr. ago For comparison on how slothis deal is: I was asked to vacate my rental as the owner also went through a divorce and would prefer to live in their old house if possible. They are paying for 1 month of rent in the new place, a moving company and all other costs incurred with the move. ↑ 19 Reply Share

Font - 2160 Life 9 hr. ago Well I guess it depends if your gf wants to keep living there? I would assume you will simply recieve the required 60 days notice to move out if she refuses the arrangement. 4 Reply Share

Font - Rand_alThor4747 - 8 hr. ago Maybe its best to get the landlord to pay you to leave, but it will take a bit of time to find alternative accommodation, and he can't move in till you leave. 5 Reply Share
