I think that those of us who try to keep up with the times have a complex relationship with older memes. On the one hand, they're the foundation for whatever the heck is going on in the here and now, and some of them hold up surprisingly well. On the other, they're a stark a reminder of the relentless passage of time.
It's true, back in the day we used to unironically find many of these funny. A few of them we still do. While our tastes might have developed somewhat, it has to be said that the likes of rage comics can give a nostalgic pang for simpler times in internet humor. It's all the more reason to return to them now and then, so we can ponder how far we've come. For all that we like to make things more complicated nowadays, we still tackle a lot of the same topics.
