One of the advantages of growing up in the '90s was that I was there when Doom burst into our lives. It was 1993 and video games back then were a little more… Innocent - Pacman, Space Invaders, Super Mario - Those are the images that came to mind whenever someone said the phrase "Video Game". And then came Doom; A first-person, action-packed, no-nonsense, Gore-filled video game with a kickass metal soundtrack and a silent protagonist that likes nothing more than turning hell spawn into tiny gibletts.
Doom was so popular that at some point it was installed on more computers than Windows OS itself! Universities had to write special programs that would uninstall Doom from their computers because no one studied and no one worked, everyone was too busy playing Doom. well, it's been 30 years (!) and I have never stopped playing this game. Doom and Doom 2 are still installed on my computer and I still play them on a regular basis. and you know what? They are still better than 99% of games out there.
