This person was just trying to follow the rules. But that didn't matter at all to the store they worked for.
At every job, there are specific rules that you have to follow. Sometimes you can bend the rules a bit to make your life easier. But some things are too important to mess around with. Age restricted items would probably fall under that second category. This person, u/PM_ME_UR_DIPLOMA, had a story for r/TalesFromRetail on this very subject. They write that while working at a video game store, they couldn't sell certain games to minors.
Lots of games are rated M for mature, and kids aren't supposed to play them until age 18. If you're like most teens, you'll just beg your parents for the game and hope they're cool and chill enough to agree to buy it for you. Or you go find one of your older friends and do the same thing. However, this kid had his own plan to procure a game, and you can just tell the kid was born with a silver spoon in his mouth by the way he treated the OP.
Up next, these people shared the most awkward, funny, and terrible parties they've ever been to — like an office party with a $50 budget where "everyone was told to bring their own food."
