If this employee's boss thought he was expensive before he got fired, well, it turns out he was even more expensive to fire. There has to be something gratifying about proving to your boss that they made a mistake, and in this case, making it far too late for them to back out of their poor decision-making.
It all started after this Redditor's boss pulled him aside one day and told him that they needed to have a discussion during his next coffee break. When OP walked into the meeting and saw the director of HR there, he knew exactly what was about to go down. OP's boss told him that he was "too expensive" to keep at the company despite how successful he has been in his role.
Luckily, the employee was more than prepared for this conversation. When he was hired, he was forced to sign a "golden parachute agreement" that expressed his need to give a full year's notice if he was ever planning to quit (which, in and of itself, is a bonkers requirement). However, the reverse of that agreement was that OP would be compensated for a full year if he ever was dismissed. We're certain that as soon as OP brought this up to his boss, the man must have regretted that contract majorly. On top of that extra payment, OP managed to get a better-paying job at the company's biggest competitor.
