"I have a boyfriend" is the quickest way for a girl to get rid of a romantic suitor. When he asked to borrow one of the barstools from her table, she got giggly and mean with her friends, trying to insult his Spanish-speaking to force him to stick around. She was definitely batting her eyelashes and expecting him to fall to her knees– well, OP had zero interest in anything but acquiring the chair.
