Dogs have been given important jobs by humans throughout history. At the beginnings of domestication, dogs were important in hunter-gatherer communities as hunting partners and protectors against predators, and things haven't changed that much since! While most dog-owners simply enjoy the company of their fuzzy companions, there are still many professional dogs out there who take their roles very seriously.
