A super power you quickly gain while working in customer service is patience. And boy, you never realize how powerful that is until you have to use it. Imagine standing there and a customer is berating you with nonsense and you just have to look at them and be calm and understanding. Like, "yes, lady, I love to be told how to do my job that I've been doing for years now. Tell me again how you work the discount code even though you've never worked retail in your life and you don't even know how to convert a PDF file."
Okay, things might have been getting personal right there, but truly you gain patience and work It out like a muscle that gets bigger and bigger. With that being said, sometimes something happens that just throws all of that "patience training" out the window. For instance, if a customer puts their hands on you or, maybe, throws something at you.
This redditor, u/Southern-Reach8779, recently posted a story of a customer going way beyond the line of okay. The entitled lady came in right before close, the employees still treated her well. But then when she went to check out she literally threw $29 in bills and $1 in quarters at OP's face with some inappropriate remark. This made OP crack, and you better believe he retorted back.
However, after hearing his story, the other employees' stories, and watching the security footage, the GM and the shop owner sided with OP. Read the entire story below!
