I was burned out before this, the review period before I went above and beyond for 4% raise that was really a pay cut with inflation.     Font - I'm anxious about losing my job (almost 5 years in this position) but I think it would hurt them more than me. I never wanted this to be my career and it would push me to make a change. The office has been chronically understaffed practically since I was hired and they would likely have to start a replacement at more than what I make now. Thought that's a small comfort.

    Font - Clear_Statement OP. 20 hr. ago Last year we were told that was temporary and we would be going to back to merit-based for the next review period. Then they tell us it is permanent after we already had our reviews. I was pretty encouraged by how many of my other coworkers did speak up when they told us that. 129 Reply Share

    Font - Clear_Statement OP. 20 hr. ago I think part of my problem is that is wasn't like this when I was hired; pay was competitive, there were bonuses and parties, etc. I like my direct manager a lot too. But it's really gone downhill since then and I'm at the same point as a lot of people where it seems stupid to try/stress about a job that's barely covering the bills. 108 Reply Share

    Font - Unlikely Egg 20 hr. ago • I'm in a similar position. The last round of pay rises were 5% if you're performing well (most people) and 5.5% if you're a top performer (rare). I was in the performing well group but I just thought, what's the point in busting your guts going above and beyond to achieve "top performer" which is super difficult to get, when you only get a tiny bit extra?     Font - JU Clear_Statement OP. 20 hr. ago Management knows I how feel, most of my coworkers feel the same and we were all pretty vocal in the meeting where they announced this change. I've been applying to other positions haphazardly but I think it's time really prioritize moving on.

    Font - SherbertSherpa 20 hr. ago So get this, my raises ARE based on merit but: a) my quota is the same as people with routinely double or more sale sizes b) management adjusted my rotation so I'm only working tiny deals c) they straight up admitted they're putting their finger on the scale for preferred reps they're looking to promote

    Font - Clear_Statement OP 19 hr. ago It used to be directly tied to your rating, if you were "sucessful" you got 3%, 4% if you really went above and beyond, etc. They won't tell us exactly what it's based on now other than a vague "equity." But you aren't wrong. I'm out as soon as I find something better (or they fire me.)

    Font - dweezer420 20 hr. ago . Merit raises are not motivational. If your raised is based on a Likert scale of 1-5 and the person getting a 5 gets a 4.0 raise. How hard is someone that's a three getting 3.2% going to work for that extra .8%? Not very....if you're making 16.00 an hour the difference is 0.51 vs 0.64 or a gross improvement over 40 hours of $5.20 (40*$0.13).
