I don't think it's a controversial statement that middle school boys are the worst. I luckily only had to deal with them for a couple of years (shoutout to absolute menaces to society, Alex and Luke). Still, some unfortunate adults have made entire careers out of trying to control this demographic. Bless their hearts.
There are a lot of strategies teachers can employ to control these hormonal monsters. They can threaten them with disciplinary action. They can ignore them until they tire themselves out. Teachers often arrange the seating chart in the room in a very specific way to isolate the disruptive kids from each other so they don't enable foolishness in their peers. Unfortunately, sometimes, these tactics can only do so much, and teachers feel there's nothing they can do to regain control.
