I once had a manager who was a real stickler for the rules when it came to everyone else's behavior, but had zero problem breaking protocol and taking stupid shortcuts whenever it suited him. I guess he thought the rules didn't apply to him. He was always lurking around, telling people how to do their jobs, breathing down our necks, and scolding others for not following exact policy and protocol to a T. And yet on the rare occasion that we were understaffed and he was forced to lift a finger, all rules suddenly went out the window. He turned into number one anarchist rule-breaker, cutting every corner he could. And whenever anyone called him out on it, he'd completely deny the double standard, claiming that 'it wasn't the same'.
All around us there are people who claim to have moral standards to which their own actions do not conform. There are plenty of infuriating examples of hypocritical people blatantly showing their double standards in a recent r/AskReddit thread question—keep scrolling for the best responses.
